The JRSF Yui arrived in the middle of an uncharted nebula, somewhere in the middle of the distance between the center of the galaxy and its edge. Despite the best efforts of the Colonial explorers, there were still unknown and uncharted parts of the galaxy. Some parts had been never explored by humans. Some had been explored, but the knowledge had been lost during the Long Night. The nebulae especially were mostly uncharted places. Even if the fatal error in the FTL drives that caused big problems for the Colonial ships jumping in them had been fixed decades ago, many of the nebulae were still unexplored. And this one, was one of them. Usually referred by as "XOA34", it's scientific name, or by "The Ghost's Nebula" by the nearby systems, because of some ghost stories and legends that had been quickly denied by the Colonial Government.
Even if the Yui had arrived successfully in the nebula, there was still something interfering with the ship's systems. Most of the Yui's sensors were down, and for most of it, they were blind. The area was probably filled with star dust, asteroids, and other smaller things like that, but hopefully, nothing too big. Under normal circumstances, the procedure Alexander would have followed would have included sending some fighters to inspect the area, but under these circumstances, it was impossible. Having trust in Haruna, Alice, and the crew, Alexander simply let the Yui wander around for a while, trying to get to the approximate locations from where the last message from the ship had been sent to the Human Colonial High Command. After a while, though, the space around them seemed to clear, and some of the sensors started to work again. That's when they detected something. Something huge.
"Put it on the screen.", the black haired admiral ordered. It was a ship. A really large one, about third times the size of the Yui and the Tirptiz. Slightly modified, but it looked like one of the Titan Class Superdreadnought of the Human Colonial Fleet. A really old ship. And it looked like it received quite a beating. The ship was clearly heavily damaged. Even if its internal structural integrity seemed to be still alright, everything else looked like it had been furiously attacked by someone. Or something.
"This is it..", Alexander said, looking at the holographic image on the screen."The Old Archive.. we... we found it.."

"The Old... It's huge..." Haruna whispered. Staring at it in awe, even the Constructor would be dwarfed by this... Superdreadnought. It was inconceivable to the Jupiterrans that such a huge machine existed. The old wars really wiped out a huge portion of their history.
"Admiral, running scans on the ship. Lifeform scans... none... Pinging movement... none..." Haruna announced. "It would seem as if it's dead in space, Admiral Alexander."
Haruna personally took charge of the particle scan, firing several pings as the particles infiltrated every nook and cranny of the Old Archive. Bouncing along the walls, the general structure of the ship soon became visible, with it's outer schematics present. Where there were breaches in the hull due to combat, the particles infiltrated and exposed the interior as well.
"Admiral, no signs of life, no running machinery... Your orders, Sir."

"Yeah, it's huge even by Colonial standards... I heard that during the Great War, the first war between Mankind and the Invaders, the Human Colonial Alliance was forced to create gigantic ships in order to fight them. But.. it's the first time I see one.", Alexander said, also amazed. But of course, there was a small problem that was making him wonder. Who was the one that attacked and severely damaged the ship? The Old Archive had been supposed to leave the Sol System after the battle, after the war had ended. What happened? Who had the power to utterly destroy such a ship?
"No lifeforms on board.. that was expected. No running machinery... we might have to manually activate the ship's systems in order to search its records.. we'll have to board it...", Alexander said, speaking more for himself, before someone spoke from behind him, interrupting him. "43rd Star Guards Division reporting for duty, Großadmiral Werther."someone said. The black haired admiral turned around to see someone he already knew, surrounded by Colonial Star Guards. That certain person was looking pretty... strange. He was clearly a Genome user, spotting the golden eyes characteristic to the early Genome users, and a black to gray messy hair. Strangely, he wasn't wearing the same Armor Battle Suit as the other Star Guards. He wasn't even wearing an uniform, he was wearing a normal black suit. If not for the sword and the pistols, anyone could say that he was ready for a business meeting. What was the strangest about him though, were his wings. Yes, his wings. White, angel like wings. The second Genome user ever created by the Colonial Genesis Genome Program, Angelo. "Angelo, hey, long time no see!", Alexander said, happy to see one of his friends. "Yeah, truly long time no see. So you're a Great Admiral now? Interesting.", Angelo answered in his usual way."Yeah.. it's a long story. I'll tell it to you once. By the way, Angelo, this is my second in command, Vice Admiral Shimazaki Haruna. Haruna, this is Angelo. He's.. it's hard to describe. He is the second Genome user that was created by the Science Division, so he's been working for the Colonies for quite some time. At the beginning, the Genome had it's.. imperfections, so that's why he has.. wings. Anyway, he's working for the Secret Police, and the Star Guards, and the Fleet... it's once again hard to explain. He'll help us though.", Alexander presented him."Nice to meet you, Shimazaki Haruna.", the golden eyed Genome user said.
"So, Angelo, what do you say, can we board that ship?", Alexander then asked. "It depends.", Angelo answered, before he looked at Haruna."Have you ever boarded a ship, Vice Admiral? Do you know the basics?", he asked.

Haruna bowed to Angelo, the Colonial with wings from his back. She has seen plenty of interesting things in the Jupiterran labs and archives on biological testing, that Angelo came across not as a weird person to be stared at. The sentiment was shared along the Jupiterrans. Haruna did look slightly uncomfortable when he asked about boarding procedures. The Star Fleet never focused much on infantry nor marine drills and formation, preferring to fight the decisive battle in space.
"Ah... we... are not especially trained in boarding ships... we do know the basics of offence and defence, but not the complex movements and formations displayed by other militaries." Haruna replied. It kind of shamed her, being one of the representatives, and needing to admit such a fact to a military with the resources to be well balanced across every aspect of their branches. The Jupiterrans can only man a fleet, and since the first threats come from space, the first line of defence took all the budget, technology, materials, and most importantly, manpower.

"Well, I should have seen that coming." , Angelo said, sighing."Alright, this won't be that hard. Our force is going to be divided in multiple teams. Each time will use a boarding spacecraft to try to board the ship through one of the possible entrance places. Hatches, hangars, holes, things like that. Once we're in, all teams will try to get to a common RV point. We'll see what happens after that, but most probably, we'll try to restart the ship's systems.", the golden eyed Colonial started to explain."First rule, always be careful. Even if the place seems safe, don't let your guard off. For all we know, that ship could be crawling with Invaders. They don't breathe, their hearts don't beat. We can't detect them by normal means. We have to be extremely careful. Second rule, always stay in the group. We can't allow some of us to get lost from the group. We will all have to stay close.Third rule, always follow the lead. I understand that you are a Vice Admiral and so, lady, but during a boarding procedure, please consider the group's officer as the supreme god. Fourth rule, in combat, don't do reckless stuff. You are an Ancient Sword user, so you'll fight as an irregular, but don't do stupid things like letting your angel take complete control. Alright?"
"By the way, Haruna. Did Azarael ever taught you how to use his angelic power?", Alexander asked."It's something like this". The black haired boy unsheathed his sword. The reddish vines appeared around the handle, piercing his hand. A little blood started to flow out of the many small piercings. "You did well until now using only the sword's power. It's a little painful, and maybe a little dangerous, but you're going to need it on that ship. Do you think you can handle it? Giving Azarael blood and letting him take a little control over you?"

Haruna nodded as Angelo explained the procedures. These were the basics in marine training, but it will do well to get a refresher from an expert. "Noted... I have not tried to allow it control yet... All I did was be empowered by it's wisdom..." Haruna muttered as she slowly drew her sword from the side. "I'll try. Sorry Azarael, but I need to try your power to use it."
Focusing on the connection between herself and the blade, Haruna felt a powerful being close in on her. Similar when Mosrael asked for her blood, this sensation was but a slightly different one. Haruna let out a gasp as she felt a prick on her sword-hand, with blue vines wrapped around her wrist. It was but a small quantity, when she felt the angelic presence grow. Controlling herself, Haruna called to Azarael. "Wait, stop. Azarael, control yourself, please. Let's learn together. Guide me Azarael. Resist the urge to dominate me..." The feeling subsided, as Haruna now held her blade with her wrist pierced.
Haruna's eyes has turned into a pale blue as she looked back at Alexander and Angelo. Breathing slowly, Haruna sheathed the blade, as the vines retracted from her hand.
"I did it... I think. Azarael accepted... it was tough, but we'll manage. We'll succeed." Haruna said, an edge of conviction in her voice. Nodding to the two Colonial officers, Haruna retrieved her personal sidearm from her terminal, ensuring it's clear of munitions before slipping several fresh clips into her belt pouch.
"We're ready. Angelo, Alexander, lets do this. Let's find the cure."

"Alright. Let's get everyone equipped.", Angelo said. With that, Alexander and Haruna left the command center for the hangar, followed by Angelo and his soldiers. In the hangar, they all received a Colonial Armor Battle Suit. The Suit, yet another product of the Science Division, was light and resistant. It allowed its users to go in almost every kind of environment, and it had a couple more good utilities, like the holographic interface, the propulsors, the nano-armor, and so on. It was the basic outfit of the Colonial Star Guards. After everything was ready, the soldiers present were divided into more groups, each with their boarding ship, just as Angelo had said. Alexander and Haruna were in Group B, led by Angelo himself. In total, there where five groups. After everything was prepared, including the helmets, each group entered their respective boarding ship, and left. This wasn't going to be an easy mission.
Group B's boarding ship left the JRSF Yui without problems. Inside it though, the atmosphere was pretty tense. Even the trained soldiers were a little stressed, unsure of what was going to happen. But that was the life of a boarding soldier after all. This wasn't Angelo's first boarding operation, and he wanted to make sure that this wasn't going to be the last- not for him, and not for anyone else present. After a little bit of searching, because of Haruna's scan, they managed to find a hole in the compartment of the hangar deck, and landed without any major problems. The ship was dark, quiet, and empty, as the insides seemed to be almost as damaged as the outsides. After landing, the entire group decided that it would be best to try to reboot the ship's systems - after all, searching through its records would have been impossible otherwise. With that objective in mind, the group carefully left the hangar. But something was wrong.
It seemed that the ship's hallways weren't following any kind of rule. Usually, all ships, be they Human Colonial or Colonial, had their hallways built after a certain plan, in order to facilitate moving throughout them. But strangely, these hallways didn't seem to follow anything, being extremely confusing. Most of them didn't even looked like what was scanned, so they were in the dark. Still, they tried to reach for the ship's main reactors, no matter how hard this might prove to be.
After some time, Haruna's attention was attracted by something that was written on the wall. It seemed to be old, and it was written in something red, dried away by the centuries that had passed. Blood. There is no hope.
And then, a second later, when she turned back around, she was alone. There was no one else around. It was quiet, and dark, with only her flashlight as a source of light. All alone... the others seemed to have just disappeared somewhere. Trying not to despair, Haruna tried to follow them, only to get more and more lost, confused by the never ending corridors.
After some more time, the Jupiterran girl found something. A body. An old skeleton in his suit ,on the floor, leaning against the floor. Scared[, she made a few steps back, hitting the wall behind her. Turning around, she looked at it, only to realize that there was something written on it too. They are here.
Suddenly, someone put a hand on her shoulder. "Are you lost, little girl?", a voice asked. No matter how strange it would seem to be, a pink haired and pink eyed girl, wearing a dress, was now behind Haruna.

Haruna gave a small scream as she saw the girl. Haruna breathed heavily as she tried to calm herself down, all the while shining her flashlight onto the girl. Pink haired, pink eyed, her biology looked and is human, but her eye colour does not match any normal structure, at least for the Jupiterrans. The messages, the body, the feeling of being all alone, in a relatively alien ship, and now the girl, is was all Haruna could do not to panic.
"L-lo-lost..." She whispered. Haruna felt the wall behind her as she took a step back. They are here. The words written in blood seemed to be speaking to her. All the more scarier, the girl was smiling, as if everything was alright.
Well, Haruna certainly is not alright, not now, that is.
"Who are you?" Haruna whispered. Her fingers touched her sidearm as she stood ready, in case the girl tries anything funny.
"No one important." Came the answer. The girl continued to smile, seeming to take joy at seeing Haruna. Joy at seeing Haruna? Or joy at sensing her fear?
"Where... where am I?"
"On a ship, of course. A very old one." Haruna looked at the girl. Surely she knew something, but she simply wasn't answering. Well, at least she gave replies, however vague...
"Do you know where the memory of the Old Archive is?" Haruna tried next.
"At its place." The girl replied nonchalantly, smiling all the way. Haruna needs her answers, especially when she was all alone right now. Where are the others? What happened to her?
"Where are the others... this Blood on the wall, this body... is this of your doing?" Haruna asked sternly, her hand resting on her sidearm, prepared for any attack should the girl respond with an affirmation.

"The others?", the pink haired girl asked. "The other humans? They're somewhere around this ship, of course. I don't know where exactly. I can sense them, somewhere, but this place is too strange for me to pinpoint their exact location." Strangely enough, the pink eyed girl didn't seem to be bothered at all by the fact that there was no oxygen on this ship. Walking around a wrecked ship in a dress wasn't exactly something a normal human would do, even if, ignoring her strange eye and hair color, she did look human. Looking carefully at her, Haruna would soon notice that she didn't seem to be breathing, and her skin seemed to be a little too pale..
Hearing the rest of Haruna's question, the pink haired girl seemed to be puzzled for a few moments, looking at the dead skeleton and the blood on the wall with interest. "I don't know.. maybe..", she answered, still smiling, as if nothing had happened. "I've killed too many people to remember, so I can't say that I am the one guilty for the death of this particular guy. The blood though, it's his doing. Right before he died.", she said, pointing at the skeleton before pointing at the blood on the wall. Indeed, it could seem that the blood actually did belong to the now skeleton. Of course, what would have made a dying man write something like that on the wall with his own blood was something else entirely.
"This ship though... it's strange..", the mysterious girl continued, speaking more to herself than to Haruna. "I wasn't here when it was destroyed.. I think. Maybe. But it's not entirely here.. just as it's not entirely there.. it's caught in the middle. That's probably why its insides seem to be a labyrinth.. a labyrinth that catches its victims.. never to leave them go again.." After this strange monologue, the pink haired girl looked at Haruna again, smiling. "Now, it would be my turn, don't you think? Who are you, little girl? What's your name? Why are you here, in such a depraved and cursed place? And why do you want to find the Old Archive?", she asked.

Haruna looked at the skeleton as the pink-haired girl explained her piece. At least she spoke more, rather than vague one-liners. Definitely not a human, since humans need breathing apparatuses in a vacuum to survive. A labyrinth... a maze... a tomb... Haruna thought. She relaxed her hand on the sidearm as she realised that if the girl wanted to attack her, wanted her dead, she would already have been. No matter who she was, no matter her status as a Genius, Shimazaki Haruna was still a human.
"I am Shimazaki Haruna, Vice-Admiral of the Jupiterran Relikan Star Fleet. I was in a battle with the Invaders... or Abyssals... and I was wounded..." Thinking of it brought a stinging pain to her thigh, to the wound which was tightly wrapped in a bandage. "We are here on a mission to find a cure... Not just for myself, but for my Commander. He... his wound is serious, he needs to find the cure as soon as possible... We heard that the cure could be found in the Old Archive, in this ship... that the cure can be formulated through the memories... the archives..."
Wincing as the the pain started to burn, Haruna had to pause as she fought it away. Opening her eyes, she could see the girl still looking at her, still smiling.
"We need the cure, otherwise we will turn into Abyssals... otherwise we will bring harm to our friends! We- I, I cannot let that happen! So please!" Haruna suddenly fell forward, into a kneeling position as she looked up at the girl. The wound was searing, as if every second spent here was accelerating the corruption. "If you know, tell us... I, I will do anything for the cure, to cure my Great Admiral..."

"So those bastards still use that old trick huh.. they play dirty, just as always..", the pink haired girl said, once again seeming to speak more to himself. Strangely enough, she didn't seem to be surprised at all by the situation, looking down at Haruna, who was now kneeling in front of her. Still smiling, the strange girl seemed really hard to impress, but that was just who she was. Remaining quiet for a few moments, the strange pink eyed girl then continued to speak.
"So, you want the cure for the little poison the Abyssals are using.. yes, I suppose it has to be here, in the Old Archive of the humans..", she started to say. "Unfortunately, they are already here. I can sense them.. the Abyssals.. they have just entered this ship. You might have already sensed it.. I guess that suddenly, your wound seems to be burning. Their simple presence can accelerate the spread of the corruption. They aren't going to allow you and your commander to find the cure that easily.. you'll have to fight.". With that, the pink haired girl extended her hand, obviously trying to help Haruna to stand back up. That of course, if Haruna was going to let her help.
"On your own, I don't think that you'll have many chances. The Abyssals themselves are similar to this ship.. they aren't here, but they aren't there either.. they're caught in between. Even if the angel in your sword is also caught in between, you, on the other hand, are a being that's only here, like all your human friends, of course. You may never find the way out of this labyrinth of corridors.. forever lost.. cursed just like this ship, to never find the way out....", the mysterious pink haired girl said, giggling. "I could help you.. but I never do things for free. Are you willing to pay the price, whatever that might be? Or.. are you afraid?"
Exactly a couple of moments after the pink eyed girl stopped speaking, the ship was lightly shaken by some distant explosions. "Too bad.. your friends don't have much time left.." , she said, sighing.

Haruna was still slightly skeptical as the girl reached out. Upon hearing about the humans, she reached out and grabbed the girl's hand as she pulled herself up. Abyssals, here! Not like they did not expect it, but this is a very different situation.
"Anything! I will do anything to save them." Haruna cried. She was scared, afraid of what the girl might ask her to do, but something in her clicked. Something for her people, for her crew, and for the black haired boy who kissed her earlier, and somehow affirmed his feeling by giving her another. "Whatever you ask, whatever I need to do to save them... Tell me, and I will do it."
Haruna drew her sword as the pain intensified, silently calling out to Azarael in her subconsciousness. Fully alert, her eyes seemed to burn with determination as she looked at the pink-haired girl.
"Tell me!"

The strange pink haired girl simply laughed as Haruna pulled herself up and drew her sword. The humans.. always so impulsive.. well, that was something that had to be expected. "For now, I'm going to ask for nothing. The simple fact that you are ready to sacrifice anything for your friends is reassuring enough. You'll see what I mean later.", the mysterious girl said."Listen carefully. I'm going to lead you to what was once the command center of this ship. Unfortunately, that place is where the anomaly is the most powerful, so please stay right behind me, I wouldn't want you to fall in a rift in space and time. Once we reach the command center, you will have to connect yourself to the main terminal. It uses a technology that's partially similar to what your fleet is using right now, but more primitive. Some sort of a neuronal connection. If your friends manage to start the emergency reactors as they intend you, you will be able to enter mentally what's known as the Old Archive. Then, the only thing I will be able to do would be to protect your body. It will be up for you to contact the A.I. that's known as the Archivist, and convince her to give you the information about the cure. Hopefully, it won't be that hard. Of course, you can never predict how will an AI that has spent centuries in hibernation react. Especially those type of AI's.."
Then, the pink haired girl did something even more strange. Taking what looked as a small knife, she sliced her wrist open. Blood started to flow out of the wound, and drops fell on Haruna's sword, clearly feeding Azarael. "That's something else I could do to help you. You'll need it.", she said as her wound started to heal. Both Azarael and Haruna felt a strengthening sensation, and the pain in Haruna's thigh seemed to dissipate a little. "She's here."
Out of a sudden, Haruna could hear the sound of someone walking behind her. Turning around, she then saw a pretty familiar face. A white haired and pale skinned girl, wearing the characteristic white with black clothes of the High Invaders, and with glowing red eyes. The High Invader she had killed. Mu. "Well, well, well. Look who's here. The little annoying human girl...", Mu said, obviously angry. "Are you ready to die?"

Giving a mock laugh, Haruna stared back at Mu.
"Annoying? Maybe your kind will respect us more when we're done here with you." Haruna responded, her voice full of venom. Sneaking a glance at the Pink, Haruna felt a sudden surge of energy as Mu approached with her longsword, when Haruna instinctively stepped forward, her feet moving faster, her arm extended, Azarael leading the way...
A loud sharp clang echoed down the hallway, as Mu recoiled from the Battojutsu. Haruna was already running the other way with Pink, Azarael glowing a soft white, as they dashed towards the Command Center. Hearing Mu catching up, the High Invader's feet double tapping as she sprinted forward, Haruna parried off several swings and thrusts, even having to dive as Mu leapt onto the ceiling, coming close to impaling her. Pink seemed to ignore Mu totally, completely focused on her destination. Haruna knew what it meant. If she was too engrossed in fighting Mu, she would lose sight of the bigger picture. Risk and danger is always near her, always around the corner, and Haruna would have to ignore or contain it, as she strove for the main objective.
"Why. Dont. You. Just. Die!!" Mu screamed as her sword sank into the floor, Haruna took just enough time to swing back, her boot connecting with Mu's face. Although it did not do much damage, Mu rose as an aura rose from her. "Just Wait..."
Reaching the Command Center, Haruna panted in the Battle Suit as she approached Pink. The girl motioned to Haruna, who could see the distorted waves, time and space practically changing in front of her eyes. They were like Northern Lights, but Haruna would not want to try touching them. Stepping forward carefully, the Jupiterran reached the main terminal, looking like a cross between Colonial designs and the CyberGenius Terminal Mk1. Nodding at Pink, Haruna adjusted her hairband as she put on her gloves. Taking a wire with a universal plasma connector, Haruna plugged her gloves into the Terminal, as she fell into her subconsciousness. The screen flickered, as Haruna tried to activate it. Knowing that the power may still be down, Haruna concentrated, falling in something other than her mental zone, her emotional one.
Admiral... Alexander... come on... you can do it... you will succeed...
It was but a few seconds, when the screen suddenly burst into life. Haruna opened her eyes, but instead of looking at it, Haruna felt herself being pulled forward, being sucked into the core of the ship, the core of the AI.
Haruna lay on the floor, dressed in her Jupiterran uniform, with white coat, skirt and all. Realising where she was, Haruna quickly got up, before she knew how redundant the act was.
Old Archive... Haruna called out in her subconsciousness. Old Archive... talk to me...

Back in the Command Center, seeing Haruna connect herself to the core successfully, the pink haired girl sighed relived. The first part of the plan was successfully completed. Now it was up to Haruna to convince the ship's AI to give her the cure. Everything was alright until now, but this was where the hard part began.. She had to protect Haruna's body while she was mentally in the ship's core. And with that High Invader coming... having a fight in the middle of an anomaly wasn't necessarily what she had planned for today. Why was she helping these humans once again?
Unfortunately for the pink eyed girl, she was suddenly interrupted by the arrival of a really, really angry Mu. Seeing the pink haired girl, Mu stopped. "So, it was you. You always have to meddle in our plans. What's your name now? You're using so many it's hard to keep track of them. And why are you helping the humans? It's been millennia since they last considered you a goddess, you know.". The pink haired girl simply smiled. "It doesn't matter what I do and why I do it. You have no right to question my decisions, being of the Abyss. Right now, I decided that I want to help this human girl. And I will help her."
"So be it then. Today is the day you die.", the red eyed Invader girl said, preparing her sword, and attacking.
The space around Haruna started to change, suddenly looking like an old but well lit library. Tall shelves were filled with books, some looking old, some newer. Some of the books where in the language that was known as Galactic Standard. Others, in the language that was known as Colonial Standard. Others were in the old languages of Terra. French. Spanish. Chinese. An large place, filled with knowledge that was lost to Mankind from before the Long Night. The Old Archive of Mankind, just as it looked when it was back in the city of Geneva, on the Old Terra.
Haruna wandered around for a while, lost between the huge shelves. The Old Archive seemed to be large.. never ending.. Without help, fighting the cure in here would prove to be impossible. It was just... to much. Haruna had to find her. She had to find the Archivist. Without her help.. it would be impossible. After walking for what seemed to be an infinity, Haruna got to a larger place that seemed to be some sort of a reception. It was a large hall, and in the middle, there was a desk, with some documents on it, and something that looked like an old computer. And there was someone sitting at the desk. A white haired and pale skinned girl, that somehow resembled the avatar of the Colonial A.I. Alice. As soon as Haruna had arrived, she looked at her with her bright, green eyes. "Welcome to the Archive. What are you searching for?", she asked.
