Rafael collapsed on his side of the bed, exhausted after an hour of of lovemaking with Ahuna. The girl was covered in perspiration as she slowly recovered from the experience, even as Rafael pulled her bare body against his own, kissing the back of her neck. It was their first time, even for Rafael, but he went slowly with Ahuna, wary of the pain she might feel. Taking a wet towel, Rafael reached down as he cleaned Ahuna of blood and fluids, feeling her body shudder under tho cold touch.
"Hey Ahuna..." Rafael muttered as he pulled her into a spoon. "How'd you like it?"

"That.... was... I forget the... painful parts of bonding... but it was worth it..."
Ahuna curled up in his embrace, slowly recovering from her breathless state. Her face was red with a blush, and she let out a slight yawn from her fatigue. Starting to finally drift off to sleep, Ahuna kept their embrace going, latched tightly to Rafael.

It didn't take long for the High One to start, slowly but surely, to accumulate knowledge from the inhabitants of the planet. That was his specialty after all. Invisible, but present, its tentacles and influence started to spread throughout the planet. While the Bloodbeaks were treated good by the Marker, other people on the planet would surely start experiencing the normal results of interacting with a Marker. Hallucinations. Aggressiveness. Dementia related symptoms. It depended on each individual being.
Also slowly but surely, the Marker started to suck in the very life on the planet. It depended on each individual Marker. The Red ones were usually more subtle, as that time when a Red Marker fooled Mankind into believing that they were causing a "Global Warming". This specific Black Marker on the other hand was far more direct. At a distance of kilometers from the location of the Bloodbeak village, plants started to turn white, followed by the ever familiar cooling of the temperature. It had begun, and the Drathians, Eldari and Jupiterrans could soon realize that.
"Transmit this message to every last native and tribe of this planet.", Sigma said to the Bloodbeak. "The ones who will join us will live. Everyone who will oppose us or help the other Star-Striders will attract the wrath of the High Ones on themselves, and will die."

Even more Bloodbeaks were sent out into the fray, coercing and intimidating whatever Sein'Hae they could find to their cause. Pockets of survivors that chose to resist began retreating and seeking help from the farther tribes, and it wasn't long before a panicked villager emerged from the bushes into the Skullhorn's main village. Bloodied and bruised, he began describing the Bloodbeak's sudden attacks and how other tribesfolk were becoming aggressive and insane. Truly, the tense, fragile allegiances of the Sein'Hae were crumbling apart as tribes began breaking up under the effects of the Marker. It even began to attract many panicked survivors to the Bloodbeaks, as they were the only ones not suffering any ill effects, leading many to believe them to be the true heralds, strengthening their cause.
Even Ahuna, laid in bed with Rafael, began experiencing hallucinations, watching her surroundings falling apart in an all too real way and causing her to begin panicking.

"Ahuna... Ahuna!" Rafael said, even as the girl began to tremble in his arms. Waking her up, the Jupiterran could see that all isn't well, especially with his fire team already up and scouting the area. Looking at Ahuna as she turned to him, Rafael held her close for a moment before getting dressed.
"Something's not right. Get dressed quickly." Rafael said as he collected his equipment. "I'll be back in a while!"
Raising the Jupiterran team, Rafael learnt that an Invader presence has been established. The Akatsuki, if spaceworthy, has to leave now.
"Commander Klaudius!" Rafael yelled as the Jupiterran scouting team converged together in the village. "Rafael! No time to explain. Half of the Akatsuki has been incapacitated, and we'll need you to control the ship. You do know how, right?" Nodding, Rafael hardly had time to think before Klaudius began to lead him away, when a hand grasped his.
Ahuna.
Turning to the girl, Rafael has to make a decision right now. "Ahuna, I'll be clearing the way. I need you to gather as many people as possible, your tribespeople, people who you can trust. We're going into space. I need you to do it quickly, My friends here will gather all of you to the Strider as soon as you are ready. You can do it, right? For us?"

Nervous and confused, Ahuna hesitated for a few moments before nodding, quietly turning away and running to start gathering whoever she could. Thankfully, the chief seemed to still have his bearings straight, and was sending hunters out to retrieve anyone that they could. Other hunters gathered to assist the Jupiterrans in clearing the way to their escape; Bloodbeaks were converging on the area after discovering the Star-Striders in Skullhorn territory, and they were likely going to try eliminating them for the Invaders, so having the keen eyes of the hunters was necessary for survival.
Keeping it to herself, Ahuna was struggling to cope with the Marker's effects. Several times she found herself collapsing or staggering around from the mental trauma, though she pushed herself to keep going, making sure she was one of the last to leave the village with her sword in tow.

Ouț of a sudden, a strange, whistle like sound could be heard, before something exploded over the village with a boom sound. The unmistakeable sound of artillery fire. The sound then repeated, as a few more projectiles exploded near the village, starting to set the forest on fire. The exact location of the village was unknown, and that's why they were missing, but it was clear, the village was now under an artillery barrage. Helping their native allies, the Invaders had come to try to finish the Jupiterrans. Quietly through the jungle, the Invader soldiers were moving, trying to cut off the retreat path of their enemies.

The three remaining Typhoons streaked across the treetops at low level, dropping bombs as they evaded AAA fire from the ground. The ancient crash site would have to be abandoned, but Klaudius and Rafael has gotten all that they needed. Booms to the rear of the column seemed to signify artillery as the forest began to light up in flames. Halfway to the Akatsuki, a company of 300 Jupiterran Marines, part of the Cruiser's Marine Battalion, managed to link up with Klaudius and Rafael.
"Men, head to the rear and secure the civilians. We're bringing them onboard. Keep them alive with your lives." Klaudius ordered as he continued to make his way through with the hunters guiding them. His laser rifle was cocked and ready, and the former member of Special Detachment Spectre, the Jupiterran's covert Dark Ops assault force, was prepared to fight for his life, and his crew's, as they neared the cruiser. Sounds of fighting in front of him told him that the cruiser has detected hostile forces, and their heavy cannons were at work.
Rafael reached the rear of the column, and saw a staggering Ahuna. Quickly, he lifted the Sein'Hae girl and placed her on his back, piggybacking her as they continued on their escape. "Don't worry Ahuna, you did your best. We're getting you all out of here."

The artillery caught the Sein'Hae by surprise, causing even more panic and scattering stragglers even further. Hundreds of Sein'Hae were being herded toward escape by hunters from various clans, some of whom were also attempting to goad beasts toward the enemy as distractions to slow them down, likely to little effect.
Ahuna was amongst those caught in the blasts, managing to avoid being hit in between the dense treelines and foliage, though a close enough blast sends her down again and scatters her senses. She became lost in her hallucinations, wildly staggering about as she tried to figure out what was what, leaving her a sitting duck for a short while.
Thankfully Rafael found her confusedly flopping around, though she was a pain to carry as she tried hitting him, mistaking him for an abductor in her unstable state.

A couple seconds later, the village was hit by waves after waves of rockets, making the same sound that back on Earth gained mobile rocket artillery units like that the similarity to a musical instrument known as "organ". They were rough, and had a poor accuracy, but their destructive power... and the simple sound they made was enough to scare even a trained soldier. In a couple minutes, the village was probably all burning, and the organs of hell were reloading.
Out of the forest, a certain pink eyed girl appeared, with her sword in her hand. The first Jupiterran marine that was in her way quickly payed for it, cut in two before he could even react. Sigma giggled, before she licked the blood on her blade. "Oh my. Kill them all.."
With that, the Invaders started to fire at the marines and at the column, reminding them that staying on this planet any longer wasn't that of a wise decision. Led by Sigma, they started to feast in blood..

At the side of the Invaders were the most loyal of the Bloodbeaks, savagely hunting down anything that the Invaders couldn't catch. The chief hunter, still soaked in fresh blood, had taken to following Sigma around, barking orders at his fellow hunters and joining her in bringing about the rain of blood that they sought. Several hunters had gone straight ahead to attack the front of the Jupiterrans trying to escape, hoping to rout them and slow their efforts so the Invaders could close the distance.
---------------------------
Meanwhile, the Metalshells were mobilising a distance away. Trawling their way through the jungle were 3 old tanks of an unknown origin, commandeered by some of the finest hunters in the clan. They were supported by many hunters, a heavily armoured APC with an autocannon and their finest capture; a working fighter craft which they used to scout out the area ahead and rain death from above, piloted by a single hunter who had been bred for the job. Behind the hunters, their many villagers were trailing, carrying necessities and doing their best to stay out of sight. They were on their way to support the Drathians, blowing apart whatever hostiles they came across and doing their best to rescue as many survivors as possible.

Behind the besieging Invader forces, a few echoing booms sounded from the jungle thicket. Two Invader soldiers flew out from the underbrush, their bodies mangled and torn apart, as if they had been gored by a sword at least as thick as their chests. Not a moment later, the trees parted to reveal a huge rhino like beast barging straight for one of their artillery cannons, not intending to tear it apart, but simply to crush it under its massive, stomping feet. It was followed by four, eight more, all of whom were crashing through the Invader position and attacking their cannons in a manner far too synchronized to be the work of simple beasts. The source of their intelligence was soon discovered. After the initial shock of the attack, the Abyssals could notice a mixture of Sein'Hae and Drathian soldiers riding atop the humongous animals. They jumped off the backs of the monsters, numbering 27 seven in total. A raiding force, something the Drathians liked to call a Vikingr Squad, named after the famous Earthling Northmen. Their main focus was not to destroy the enemy force at the position, but rather, weaken it enough to break the siege of the village. Sein'Hae, equipped with Drathian armour and weaponry, made use of the explosive weaponry given to them by the 'Star-Striders', often throwing a grenade or two at ammunition stores. Should those detonate, large swaths of the camp could potentially go up in flame. The Drathians, on the otherhand, were more precise in their targets. Their job was to take down any Invader soldier that dared fire upon their Sein'Hae shock troopers, often utilizing semi-automatic rifles or other fast firing burst weapons. It wouldn't be enough to completely defeat the Invaders, no, but surely it would delay them enough for the main Vinecrawler force to arrive.

Not far behind the rhino beasts were about 120 hunters from the few resisting clans, armed and ready for battle with guns and grenades. A few brought war beasts, and one was carrying an ancient rocket launcher to really pack a punch.

Rafael struggled as he fired at Invaders with the remnants of his fire team. Two has fallen, and Rafael personally ended their transformations by melting their hearts and brains. The Akatsuki was near, and Ahuna seemed to be recovering. Just then, Rafael's vision flashed across his eyes once more, as he turned to see an Invader holding a long spear charge him, throwing the weapon right at his heart.
Rafael's life flashed across his eyes, memories, past and present... Ahuna... the thud on his chest seemed too cruel, too unfair, as Rafael opened his eyes, to see Klaudius pushing him back. The Jupiterran Commander gave Rafael a sly wink, before the spear impaled him through the heart. Rafael, stunned, could hardly move as several marines gathered him and Ahuna through the entry doors of the cruiser, after several hundred natives got inside as well. With the last of the marines, about 200 remaining after the ambush from the Invaders, the Akatsuki began it's final launch preparations, as several more Typhoon fighters launched from the hangars, creating a minor circle of security before the cruiser could bring all it's weapons to bear.
"Akatsuki, Launch." The AI announced as Rafael slowly plugged himself into the Cybergenius Terminal. From the corner of his eye, he could see Ahuna placed on a medical bed, medics calming her down as he arrayed the Akatsuki's laser cannons at the Bloodbeaks' strange contraption, as well as the Invader artillery. The ballistic shells went next, before a mass of point-defence lasers slashed through the Invaders directly below the ship.
"This planet is doomed. It would do well for everyone to leave." Rafael muttered into a wide communications net. Exhausted, the Jupiterran has not have a long rest ever since stepping off onto the planet. It was worth it to save several hundred Sein'Hae, as the Akatsuki powered it's engines towards space. The Marker was able to be seen from their point, frozen foliage a perfect circle around it. It may or may not destroy it, but on Rafael's command, the cruiser launched an Alpha Strike of ballistic shells, Dissector Lasers and Javelin Missiles armed with Shatterer Warheads. Confirmations on impact flashed across the screen, but no one could confirm it's effectiveness as the Akatsuki shot into Hyperspace, into the Andromeda System...

Unfortunately for everyone still on the planet, the attacks of the Akatsuki had absolutely no effect, as the energy shields of the Marker were up and going. If that had an effect, it was that it really angered the High One. The planet started to die more visibly, its very life being sucked away by the strange structure, plants and everything turning to white, and the temperature dropping, everywhere except from the Bloodbeak village.
On the ground, after the attack of the Drathians and the leaving Jupiterrans, the Invaders were confused for a few good minutes. Too bad it didn't last for long, Sigma rallying them back up. The mobile artillery and rocket launching platforms started to retreat, trying to take positions farther away from the battlefield. Now, with the Jupiterrans gone, the Invaders could focus their entire force against the Drathians and their native allies.
Recovering from the initial shock, the Invaders started to take positions, mounting machine guns and digging small foxholes. While the larger artillery units retreated, the infamous FLAK's and PAK's of the Colonials, were still there. Even if they were usually used against aircraft/spacecraft, respectively armored units, because of the extremely high firing rate of the first and the immense penetration power of the second, they could be used at land too. Each of them manned by two Invaders, they started to open fire against the Drathians, bringing the firepower superiority to the Invader forces. No matter how good of a soldier you were, a hit from a FLAK or a PAK was more that sure to kill you. Especially when loaded with flammable, explosive or fragmentation shells. Especially the rhino like beasts were quite a target. Add that to the machine guns, and the Invaders quickly started to pin down their enemies.
With precise and accurate shots, the Invader soldiers also started to open fire against their enemies, whether they were armed with SMG's, pistols or sniper rifles. Some of them even started to fire their Panzerfaust rocket launchers, small portable rocket launchers used by Der Koloniale Heer. Led by Sigma, the Invaders attacked furiously, all while the weather was quickly becoming colder and colder. A perfect time for an Invader. And somewhere behind the Drathians, small mechanized Invader units were rushing to complete the encirclement.
