Even as Sylvia distanced herself from the group to hide in between trees, Archene seem to follow her briefly. On her helmet a voice rung, because yes, one of the two mini-cores installed was on the helmets so that communication would be ensured. Even as he just gave her another smile, his voice could be heard in her helmet, "Don't worry, I have a friend who will keep you safe. Just be sure to make no noise, he will protect you from any enemies that might pass by us. We will get your family and everyone back, after all, we are the best." He gave her another smile, before giving the girl a light pat on the helmet.
Before long, she would be able to notice that a... spider(?)/ground unit, no it clearly wasn't a spider, it was a sphere with 4 legs, a very metallic thing. But the voice in the HUD soothed her, "Don't worry about him, he is my little friend," A 1 meter tall little friend, "He will keep you safe." He smiled softly at Sylvia, "Anything you need, just speak quietly, I'll be able to hear you, and will come as soon as possible. Be well."
Soon enough Archene found himself back at the Confederate group, a number of the spiders just behind him, slowly dispersing soundlessly. They would jump at those towers and take down the snipers. As they got ready to jump, one aiming for each other, while one seemed to always follow Archene... at least, ever since he returned to the group. The legs of the ground unit morphed slightly, somewhat seeming to change for something that would give it the highest and most precise jumping height. All they were wait was for the Confederates to start their attack before they jumped towards the towers.

It was now that Carver noticed the heavy machine guns. He commanded some of the better shots in the unit, "Snipe the gunners, before they get a chance to open up!" He also noticed the tattered Colonial flag. It was a tragic sight. But soon, the prisoners would be free, and hopefully the planet as well. As the group advanced further, he got behind a small rise in the ground. Seeing the Invaders fairly close by, he expected his scattergun was in working range. The other commandos were a good distance behind, but Carver knew they would catch up. He pressed a button in his gauntlet, and felt a needle puncture his right arm. In poured liquid enhancement. For the exceptional focus he already had, it climbed higher as he fired the first shell towards the Invaders.

The little girl seemed to be really scared from the spider thing at the beginning, but Archene's words seemed to calm her, a little at least. "Okay... Herr Archene...", Sylvia said, as she tried to remain calm. Spiders weren't exactly her most favorite insect, and even if that thing was clearly some sort of a machine or something, it was still enough to make her feel scared... but she had to be brave, she had to focus on the camp. Were they... still inside it? Her mother and brother...
As the first shell was fired, the first Invader fell down, and the fight started, as the other Invaders opened fire against the Confederates. Seeking shelter behind the cabins and the barriers, the Invader soldiers seemed to be ready to fight until the last. In the towers, the Invader snipers started to open fire, aiming at their enemies, while the now mounted heavy machine guns opened fire..

As the snipers and HMGs began to fire, the spiders jumped. Some landing at the sides of the towers, while others even toppled Invaders as they landed. An Invader that moved quickly enough was able to shoot at the 'spider'. The bullet, however, went through without much resistance, and not a second later, a spike grew out of the spider towards the Invader's head giving it a quick death. The other ground units soon followed the suit, quickly eliminating the Invaders at the observation towers.
Archene simply followed the commandos from behind, he was sure enough that they could take care of the other Invaders, specially without fire support from the towers.

Carver continued firing, glad that the Acruani were assisting. Already, he could see it was helping death toll to a minimum. The rest of Nightmare Company also attacked from cover. Not from anything substantial, but simple uneven terrain in the ground. They focused their line of fire on the remaining Invaders, and they themselves focused on surviving the battle. They knew they had weapons, numbers, and training to easily overwhelm the Invaders. They only needed to survive the battle and free the prisoners. A handful of commandos had been wounded by snipers, and a few others had been killed by the fire of heavy machine guns before the Acruani units had managed to silence them. But Carver knew the Confederate forces would win this engagement. It was only a matter of time.

It didn't take too long, but unsurprisingly, the Confederates and the Acruani managed to kill off the Invader guards... and only a few minutes later, all weapons went silent. It was over...a small fight, but one that ended with a few causalities for the Confederates. Nothing too big though, so the operation could be considered a success.. even if the humans inside the camp didn't seem to be realizing what was happening at all. After all, they had probably seen too much to actually believe that someone was going to come for them... they probably believed that this was one of the many traps of the Invaders.
As soon as the shooting stopped though, a certain white haired and green eyed little girl started to run for the camp, crying, stopped in front of the gate by two of the Confederates, since running to an electrified fence wasn't exactly a good thing to do. She tried to escape and continue her run, but the soldiers were holding her quite tight. "Mom! Brother!... Are you... are you there?!", the girl said, crying.

Glad the fight was over, Carver proceeded into the camp, allowing the medics to handle the wounded and the dead. He waved to the others to release Sylvia, and held her hand tightly as they walked through the front gate. He said to her, "Don't touch the fence. It's electrified." As they proceeded inside and began to get a good look at the prisoners, Carver asked, "Do you see anyone you recognise?"

Archene followed Carver and Sylvia, some of his spiders following him while other just stayed at the towers in case this was just a trap. Carver seemed to be good enough handling Sylvia for Archene to not need to meddle into that.

As she was taken inside by the Confederate soldier, the little girl looked around, until she finally spotted whom she was looking for. A woman, and a boy. The woman was fairly similar to Sylvia overall, having a similar hair color, maybe a little more blond, most likely how Sylvia's also was before she had inhaled so much of the fog. The boy seemed to be really slightly older than her, although some could argue that they could be twins. As soon as she saw them, the green eyed girl ran towards them, crying and hugging them. The two actually seemed surprised to see her, most likely having considered her to be dead, and also started to cry.
"Mom.. brother..", the girl said between sobs, as her brother was also crying, unable to say anything else. "Sylvia..", was the only thing her mom managed to whisper. Even here, so far in the darkness of the Invaders... a family had been finally reunited...

Not wanting to intrude on the reunification, Carver walked a short distance away while still keeping a good view of Sylvia's family. He said to a subordinate, "Talk to the prisoners. Find out if there are any Colonial men left. If not, talk to the prisoners about whatever they can remember. If they're hungry or thirsty, give them part of your rations. Much as Sylvia told us, there are still a lot of gaps in our knowledge. Like where are the Markers, what exactly happened to this planet. Where are the Invaders? We've only seen a handful, which is awfully odd in an occupied place like this. And most importantly, let them know who we are and that they're safe. We may have an official mission, but it's our duty to help these people as well. Keep me informed of what you discover." The subordinate nodded his understanding, and went to carry out the orders.
He then returned to Sylvia's family, and hoped they spoke Galactic Standard. He said in what he hoped was a reassuring voice as he removed his helmet, "Hello. My name is Sergeant Scott Carver. I'm a soldier of the Dothvalian Confederacy, and we've come to rescue the prisoners here." He then pointed at Sylvia and added, "Your daughter has been extraordinarily brave. She told us about these camps, and led us here. So dont thank me. I only secured the compound. She's the one who brought help."

Not long after the Confederates began asking the prisoners questions, Archene spoke on Carver's HUD, "See if we can find out where the Marker is, I'd try long range readings here, but considering the fog, it should not work. Also, once you are done, have some soldiers lead them back to the city. I'll have some of the ground units go back with them, if there are any injured soldiers that could compromise the rest of the mission, you can send them back as well. There is no need for someone half-dead to keep going."
Meanwhile, Archene seemed just to wait by Carver quietly as the soldiers went about asking their questions. Only politely smiling to anyone looking at him for far too long for any reason.

Luckily, by now, Sylvia, her mother, and her brother had all calmed down, and her mother, looking at the Confederate spoke first, speaking in the same accent and Galacting Standard as her daughter, showing that she was also a native of this planet. "Thank you for rescuing us, Herr Unterfeldwebel.",she said, translating his rank in the closest rank of die Koloniale Heer, probably out of habit, even if the word was in Colonial Standard. "Even so... thank you very much for taking care of my daughter. She managed to run away and the guards didn't notice her.. but if not for you and your men, she never could have brought help. We are deeply indebted to you.". Sylvia's mother than made a short pause, probably thinking at the exact way to say it. "We never thought that someone might come to rescue us... it's not like the Federals wouldn't have done anything to save us.. we know that the Federal Government puts the safety of its citizens above everything else, but so long as passed... and they were so harshly defeated.. even if you were enemies in the past, thank you for coming here. We.."
Unfortunately, the woman's words were suddenly interrupted as a strange sound was heard, and a couple seconds later, a shockwave hit the camp, sending some of the people flying, and causing the wooden towers to collapse. It almost seemed that something had exploded somewhere, further away, and suddenly, the strange energy signature in the middle of the continent, about 50 kilometers away from them, seemed to rise. And then, out of the fog surrounding the camp... they appeared.
Lines after lines of dead, Abyssalized Colonial soldiers, white, dead, with glowing blue eyes. Quiet, and not breathing.. they were now surroundering the camp. But strangely, they didnt fire... and soon enough, one of them made a step forward. A rather well known Invader... with a white hair that had a slight tent of pink, and dark pink, glowing eyes... Sigma. "Well, well, well, Look what we've got here..", Sigma said, smirking. Strangely, even if she wasn't shouting, everyone could perfectly hear her..

Carver saw his commandos all let their guard and reach for their weapons. He quickly said, "Hold your fire!" With the discipline ingrained by a lifetime of obedience, the soldiers of Nightmare Company held their fire and waited for further commands. They were outnumbered, but Carver expected that with their trisilviate weapons at this short of a distance, the Invaders would take heavy losses. If he was careful, perhaps he could give Sigma a dose of the shells. But the sergeant dismissed the idea. She hadn't indicated she would attack just yet.
Besides, Carver welcomed a chance to speak with the famous Invader. Motioning to his unit to stand back, Carver stepped forward until he was close to Sigma, then removed his helmet. He had fair skin, ice blue eyes, and medium brown hair. Staring eye to eye, the two commanders met. Carver smiled as he approached, and said, "Hello, Sigma. Do you remember me? My name is Scott Carver. I encountered you at the Pluto and Tau Volantis. If I remember correctly, you're the one that killed Lieutenant Embry. After that, your underlings killed my fiancée. But I shouldn't bother you with this. You remember. The only thing I wonder is if you remember me." After a brief pause, Carver asked, "So, what do you want to discuss? Your men aren't firing, despite the fact we're surrounded and you have an edge. If you wanted us dead, we would be. So why haven't you killed us yet?"
There was one of the Invaders, right in front of him. It took all of Carver's willpower not to attack, but he stayed his hand as he waited for Sigma to speak.

As the towers fell, the ground units on them came to the ground... and after quickly regaining their bearings they organized themselves around the group. Obviously, the general direction of the strange energy signature was recorded for clear reasons... why did they stop around to help the clear-trap girl again. They again remaining alive while being affected by Invaders does make her perfect for a number of experiments. Either way, there were matters of greater importance to be dealt with, such as Sigma.
Archene gave Sigma a light smile, and if it were for Carver beginning to talk to the Invader, he'd have given her a bit more than that. Immediately, it was heard on Carver's helmet, "Distract her for long enough and we might find a better moment to attack. Part of my units will stay closer to the civilians, so I hope that your commandos can focus entirely on winning this. If it truly comes to a fight, I'll be Sigma's opponent, unless you require to settle any personal fight."
From the moment the girl was not shot earlier, they have already gotten side-tracked, so why not humour Carver a bit more. The chances of a fight breaking out were just over 90%, nothing too astonishing after all.

For a moment, it really seemed that Sigma was going to unsheathe her sword and order her underlings to fire, but... strangely enough, she simply smiled, just like she was always doing, and started to talk. An Invader speaking with a human instead of them trying to kill each other...well, this was strange, but Sigma had always been fairly different from the other Invaders, both in good and in bad ways. "Hmm... yeah, you are right human, we have met before, both on that ship, and on the frozen planet. I'm not the type to really pay attention to whom I fight and whom I kill... but I recognize your mind..", as she said that, Carver could feel a short mental touch, as if the Invader girl would want to really check.. but she didn't seem to want to push any further, at least for now."I didn't kill lieutenant Embry, don't put it that way...", she said, smirking. "I merely... gave him the chance to be reborn.... and my... underlings did the same to your fiancee... they gave her the opportunity to abandon this weak human life, and to be reborn under the guidance of the High Ones... " Sigma then smiled once again, this time looking at Archene though. "Well, if it would have been after me, I would have killed you and all the humans here a very long time ago, but these are my orders... messing around with that girl's memories wasn't that hard, and once the proper memories were put in, she obviously brought you here... you fell into an obvious trap, unfortunately. Even so... the High One that is on this planet, Master would want to see you... and we will bring you to him, but whether we bring you dead or alive is your choice...", Sigma said, once again with her characteristic insane smile.
