"We are not clueless when it comes to diplomacy that we send envoys aboard foreign ships and stations without any knowledge whatsoever, expecting them to miracle up an alliance. I don't know how you handle your diplomacy, but the Nagusi send expendable scouts forward with a purpose of documenting and investigating, so that we at least know what we're dealing with. Once our negotiator had enough information, she will ask for permission to come aboard and begin negotiations." The Nagusi wasn't pleased that he had to explain what was such a simple and obvious concept to Sarah, though he kept his emotions in check and maintained a relatively straight face.
The Tetanis eventually came over, looking up at Sarah and offering her his datapad, which he had set to a translated document about some of their technology; Their lightning based power systems, developments to accomodate the Brie, and some of their small scale personal mechsuits. He then spoke regardless of whether she took the pad or not.
"The Nagusi are of the habit of technological exchanges as a foundation for diplomatic engagements. We're instructed to figure out at least a basic understanding of where you stand technology-wise to see if this method is applicable to you. After that, an assessment of military strength to determine a possible vassal or not, then we simply ask for any weaknesses that you are willing to disclose to figure out if we can help cover for those weaknesses. Certainly not a waste of time, though I apologise if it seems that way to you. It's how it's always been done and I'm not sure we're really in a position to change that."

"Well, if you were in another nation's starbase, I'm sure that you would have been marked for spying. Espionage. You talk as if security is no factor, yet the two of you can be identified as a scouting party on board this starbase, or a vassal of the Invaders with the intent of uncovering our positions." Sarah was still assertive, the Nagusian's words simply coming across as arrogant. "Already you talk as if we of the Star Fleet are to be underlings, before your negotiator has come."
Looking at the Tetanis, Sarah took the datapad while flipping it over and handing it back to him.
"I understand there are different cultures, but here's something we live by. Live as the Romans live, Do as the Romans do. I will accept your negotiator on board, and she will hand me the datapad herself as an official sign of goodwill and treating, and I of the Star Fleet will accept it graciously. Your efforts will not be in vain."

At that moment, the Tetanis nudges the Nagusi gently, which triggers a nod from him. "Very well. I will signal for the negotiator." He turned to go message the negotiator, leaving the Tetanis talking to Sarah.
"...You'll have to forgive the Nagusi, they're not used to being the little fish. Thankfully, I've met the negotiator and she's far more willing to be the sidekick when it comes to alliances. I don't need to tell you that I'm not a Nagusi, do I? No, I'm from one of their vassal races, the Tetanis. We're largely the reason for their rapid growth in recent years, hence why we haven't heard of these 'Invaders' you mentioned earlier. Maybe if they do show up in our territory, it'll give them a much needed message that they need to put away their 'better-than-you' attitude for once. Again, I apologise for this rather botched meeting. I'll try to recommend some kind of change to diplomatic proceedings in the future."
The young little Tetanis certainly seemed concerned for the Nagusi and Sarah's hostile interaction, though this was in part a facade to cover his joy that the Nagusi had finally been stood up to. Hopefully the Colonials would be just as vigilant in the face of their attitude, too.

"Do not worry about such trivial exchanges. What you should worry about is having these Invaders show up by your territory, for they bring only death and destruction. Join them, and be enslaved, defy them and be destroyed. Such is the way of the Abyssals." Sarah said, leaning back on the chair as she exhaled slightly, thankful that she need not keep up her strict self.
"It would seem like the Nagusi are a race capable of showing their strength to other races. That I shall not dispute, for your words seemed to emphasize that as their strength. But I shall wait. As long as the negotiator is as amicable as you say, we may be toasting to a glass of wine at the end of this talk."

"Glad to hear it. By the by, my name's Trip. The Nagusi is Anxinin. I hope it would be okay for me to stay on board during negotiations. Unlike him, who scouts out of caution, I do so out of fascination."
At that moment, the head of the Nagusian fleet sent a message, requesting that the negotiator be sent on board.

Sarah nodded. "Glad to meet the two of you. You two will be present here when we discuss. Be it caution, or fascination, I will keep things in check. Especially during first contact. For us of the Star Fleet, we don't exactly appreciate people snooping around for information before we established formal contact."
Leaning back on the chair again, Sarah decided to just wait for the negotiator, confident that they can start soon.

The negotiator was quick to arrive on the station. She was a lithe, fairly short Nagusi, with dull orange scales, brownish skin and black markings on her visible skin. Her head was topped by some flowing brown hair that passed down to her waistline. She wore a sleeveless rubberised jumpsuit that covered her torso and most of her tail, save for a line of spinss that stuck out the back of her tail, though thankfully their sharpness was the only dangerous feature to them. A pair of thin glasses sat on her face, and she clutched a datapad in her hands, which she was checking over.
Accompanying her was a large Celduri, grey skinned and identical to the rest of his race, save for the orange overalls he wore as a uniform. His great amount of strength was demonstrated by the large metal crate he carried, that was a little bit larger than the Nagusi he followed. Upon entering the room, the Celduri set the crate down, before the new Nagusi spoke to Sarah.
"Ah, hello madam, you will be negotiating with us today? I'll try not to take up too much of your time, if I recall these other extraterrestrials are of far more concern to you than our meek little ships. My name is Semila, and I apologise in advance for my nervousness, we've never come across another spacefaring race as powerful looking like yours. It's a lot of pressure on me to befriend you all."
Her chery demeanor is largely a facade to hide her nervousness about messing up, though she hoped that the negotiations would be quick and smooth.

"Have no pressure Miss Semila. I am Star Admiral Sarah Vorren of the Relikan Star Fleet. My time is open to those who make it worthwhile. Also, meek ships can hide a spirit far stronger than they look." Sarah replied with a wink. Indeed, the Jupiterran Star Fleet Doctrine formed nearly 500 years ago was based around small fast ships of superior quality, for maximum mobility and ease of manufacture. It was not until the Exploration Duty came about that farms and recreational facilities were added into the warships of Jupiterra. Back then, a Jupiterran Destroyer could jump around several Terran Battlecruisers and destroy them at range, thus Jupiterra established itself as the strongest spacefaring force in Sol.
"Now..." Sarah summoned several drinks, as chairs unfolded from the walls with a wave of her hand. "We're talking about relations between two systems. The basics which we humans are known to exchange at first contact are Trade, Cultural Exchanges... We have made first contact, and as my sign of friendship, we are communicating here. I'll hear your propositions now."

The world was burning around her, Haruna woke to death and destruction. Surprisingly, she was at peace, for this was not her nightmare. Looking around, Haruna saw a boy lying on the ground. A dark haired boy, a younger version of someone close to her. Why was she in his dreams?
The boy was lying on the ground, his eyes lifeless, yet he breathes, as Haruna crouched down to bring him up. She sat on the grass with him, holding him close as she allowed him to rest his head on her chest. Patiently, she stroked his head, saying nothing, but letting her presence do its work...

The boy was bleeding, reliving that night yet again. It was dark, and the city around was burning. The boy was simply looking at the sky with his lifeless blue eyes, for this was before those scientists had done their way with him. His eyes were lifeless, but he was hearing. He was hearing everything. The screams. The dying sounds of so many people. So many people that were dying all around him. In that night, the entire city had been slaughtered. Why would anyone care? It was just a small city, on a small planet, at the edge of the galaxy. In the reports, this was marked as simply, "a small action by the enemies against civilians.". For the galaxy, this slaughter was nothing. Nobody cared. But for the boy, this was the night he had lost everything. His father, disappeared in the Andromeda. His mother, sister, and brother, all killed by the reptilian enemies. He wasn't able to do anything. But yet, he was the one to survive. The one who deserved it the last.
Vaguely, the boy made an attempt to raise his hand, like he was trying to catch something in the air, as tears started to roll down his face. " Why..", the boy said in a low voice, crying. The screams... they were too much. But then, the boy then felt someone holding him, stroking his head. And even if he was crying, he slowly started to calm down. But the city was still burning around them.

"It's okay." Haruna whispered, as she gently lifted the boy up. Touching his head, Haruna felt the guilt within him, the survivor's guilt. Well, she wasn't a psychotherapist, but Haruna has a hidden strength, one which she didn't even know. One which allows her to read the feelings and some thought of those who she can touch. With Alexander physically hugging her, Haruna has a clear entry into his dreams, even if she did not mean to enter. Holding him close and turning him away from the carnage, Haruna continued to let the boy cry.
Slowly, the scene transformed into a room. A room onboard a Jupiterran ship, a bunk. This time, the two were holding on to each other, Haruna gripping her commander tightly as they lay on the bed in their uniforms. Haruna was lying on Alexander, her hand stroking his face as she continued to comfort him. "It's alright. There are still things you can protect, people who need you." Haruna whispered. "People like me..."
Haruna began to kiss him, and even as Alexander reciprocated, Haruna shut her eyes as she felt his hands on her. She knew that it was a dream, his dream, but the feeling was so real, that somehow, Haruna began to wonder if she suffered a memory loss, and they were actually embracing each other in reality...

"Of course." Semila nodded briefly. "The Nagusi have an abundance of resources at their disposal, and the alliances with our 3 vassal races have allowed for rapid expansions and technological advances. Surely an alliance can bring about nothing but good for all of us."
The Celduri behind her opened up the crate, pulling out a Nagusian Personal Combat Suit. It resembles an armoured exoskeletal suit with mounted autoshotguns on the shoulders, and blades on the arms. It's also quite lightweight and nimble, designed as a quick and agile strike unit, coloured a teal blue and silver.
"One of many models of combat suits we manufacture. This is one of the lightest models, designed for ambushes and CQC. Of course, much larger models are space travelling battle suits with several crew members. We would be happy to develop these suits for you, also. Additionally, our fleets would be readily available for combat as needed. We can also assist in colonization efforts, as our colony ships are abundant and efficient."
She looked to Sarah expectantly, hoping for a positive response.

"Aye..." Sarah said, just as alarms began to ring about the base. Waving a hand in the air, the Star Admiral continued, "Do not worry, just a simple Invader attack. I would know if they tried something different."
Looking at the suit, Sarah could see that it was well made for CQC action. However, she did not tell the Nagusi that the Relikans have their own combat suits which are made for high maneuverability actions, as well as a combo of formidable close-range swords and medium-range machine-pistols.
"It is interesting indeed. I humbly accept." She said. "Regarding colonization, we do not have need for that. The Invaders are already aware of us, and we can hardly thin our lines. I do appreciate the thought, especially regarding any warfleets you have. But my advice is for you to hold them for yourselves. While we can handle the Invaders, your people have not encountered them yet... it would be naive to think that a minor flotilla could beat them. You would be helping us alot more by surviving and holding them off, opening another flank for them to commit forces to."
While she said that, Sarah's voice was full of seriousness. A strategist, she was genuinely worried about the other races, especially when their true value in war was positioning. Hopefully the Nagusi would understand the situation, and increase their war efforts, as the Relikans and Jupiterrans already are.

"Very well. We still wish to commit some forces to fighting by your side, however, so we can gain an understanding of these Invaders so as to be able to combat them better. Either way, we're glad to have reached an understanding in this apparent time of need."
Trip briefly spoke up to Sarah.
"If you don't mind me asking, what are your power systems like? Power is something of a specialty for the Tetanis, and we're anxious to know if our systems could be improved by your technology, or the other way around."

Sarah looked at the smaller creature, before speaking. "Our main power generators are a secret, unfortunately, but I can reveal the source of our secondary systems and non-critical systems, both of which were once main generators."
Taking out a hologram, Sarah spun the globe around before two engines and their schematics were on screen.
"Firstly, we use nuclear generators. Clean, efficient, and their power could be use to create energy for propulsion, electricity, and nuclear beams. However, they are dangerous, and prone to exploding if they take a direct hit. The second is much safer, better, but extremely expensive and sophisticated, and is only useful for creating energy. Pure liquid plasma extracted from the core of planets. Some say that the core of planets were a hot glowing mass of fire, but we have found a naturally occurring reservoir of plasma which is present in the direct center of every planet. Break through the heating core, and you find the reservoir. The plasma fuels the heat which warms the planet where the excess heat is cooled by Space, and withing the atmosphere, the heat travels back into the core rocks, and the core rocks bleed plasma, for free. You can try that in your own planets."
Sarah did not mention the main source of their power, which was also centered on plasma technology. However, the plasma was refined into a weapons-grade product and pumped into specially created reactors which emulates the core rocks of the planet, causing them to reproduce weapons-grade plasma over time. This way, the Relikan ships are powered by an almost infinite amount of energy, with the plasma reservoir capable of refilling itself to the point of overflow, therefore needing the coldness of space to keep temperatures in check, and power-hungry systems to always be turned on. Such technologies exist only in the top secret files of the Relikan database, run only by the top one hundred commanders of the Star Fleet.
