In an Invader base in an undisclosed location, Rho looked out at the stars from a large window. All of his being was filled with a sense of failure. Perhaps the Colonial base on Tau Volantis had been destroyed, but the humans had escaped with Omega. It brought memories back to Rho, and he cursed his weakness. Twice he had now failed. The first was in life, when he had failed to protect the Colonial leader against the Invaders. That memory grew dimmer by the hour, but Rho's self-loathing made it persist. Further, the strangest thing had happened during the altercation with the Colonials. There had been a voice in his mind, and he had seen a girl. In the chaos of the base, Rho had been unable to address her. Now he stared at his blade, thinking that it must have been the source. The vision occurred right after he had killed the first Allied soldier.
He stared at the blade in silence for what felt like nearly an hour. He thought at it, stared at it, and swore profusely, but nothing happened. Then an idea occurred to the young Invader. He said in a relaxed tone, "I'll bet you're not even real. My mind remains cluttered with things of the old life. Whatever I saw back in the base must have been a hallucination. That shall explain my vision, unless you prove otherwise. Now please, show yourself once more!"

Suddenly, Rho would feel someone hugging him from behind. A strange girl had just appeared behind him. Her long, blonde hair was tied in two tails. Her eyes had extremely strange colors, with her left eye being of a vibrant red, while her right eye being of a deep, dark blue. She was still smiling, even if maybe other beings like her would have been angered by his words. "I'm not real? Why would you think so?", she asked, smiling." Are all humans and former humans that reluctant about believing in things that can't be explained that easily? Or are you just stupid? "

"It's true then," Rho said in an excited tone. He found the differently coloured eyes interesting, as well as the blonde hair. Because of that, Rho suspected she wasn't exactly an Invader, whatever she was. He said in a calmer voice, "It's wonderful to see you again. I saw you in the base, but I couldn't be sure. So much was happening. I am Rho. And you?"

"Hmm... you haven't earned the right to know my true name yet, but I guess that you can call me Kali.", the blonde haired being said, still smiling. She was a little surprised by Rho's reaction. Usually, the beings she came in contact with were simply afraid of her. This one though, seemed exited to meet her. "You can say that I am the being that has.. possessed your sword. You summoned me when you killed the first person with it, after it was corrupted by their influence.."

"Kali," Rho said slowly, hearing and feeling out the name. He eventually said, "That's a nice name. And you say you are the being possessing my sword? Interesting. So, now that my sword is possessed, how is it different from when I was alive? Besides your presence, of course." As Rho entered the conversation, he considered the change in his whole being, despite the battered commando armour he still wore. Like the sword, would the rest of his combat gear be altered as well? The new Invader could only await the answer of the blonde haired girl.

"Now that I am in your sword, you can use my powers, of course", Kali said." If you're strong enough to resist my influence, and in the exchange of a price. But in your first moment of weakness, I'll take over your mind and possess you. That's the way it works. You have to be strong to use me.."

Rho thought about what Kali said. He had been quite strong before, commanding one of the most effective legions in the Dothvalian Confederacy. He remembered the experimental combat stimulants, whose many generations he had always tested. Every time a battle had been too much, Rho recalled pressing the button, and feeling a rush of liquid power from the injector. But things were different now. He had changed, and he suspected the stimulants would never work for him again. When he had been inside the Tau Volantis base, he had engaged the Allied soldiers, especially the Confederate portion, with an ease unknown during life. Only the occasional graze of Varanium or Trisilviate had even made pain register. After considering these memories for some time, Rho decided. He was stronger than he ever had been. Strong enough to control the being in his blade, and strong enough to never need the stimulants again. With a powerful yank, he removed the injector from his armour. Rho then held it before both himself and Kali, and said in a determined tone, "I am strong enough to accept the terms of your bargain. Behold, the crutch of my past life." The young Invader then harnessed a new-found physical strength, and squeezed the injector until it had been crushed into a fine powder, which he cast into the air.
Once this was done, he added, "Now you've seen it conquered. Come with me, and we shall conquer the universe in the name of the Ancient Ones."

"Are all humans and former humans as reckless as you?", Kali asked, before approaching him. "I'll need my little meal first, thank you very much..". Without giving him a moment to think about it, Kali bit his neck, and started to drink his blood. Just like all types of the possessing beings, she had an almost unbearable thirst for blood. And of course, in exchange for her powers, her wielder had to give her blood. The blonde haired demon wasn't as gentle as Mosrael and Azarael had been while drinking from their wielders, but she also wasn't as violent as Omega was. She drank for almost an entire moment, before stopping. "Thank you very much for the meal..", she said, smiling while looking at him with her blue and red eyes.

"Of course," Rho replied as he gritted his teeth against the strange new pain in his arm. He grew accustomed to it, however, and added, "And to answer your question, very few humans are as reckless as me. That's why I was so good at my job. I knew the risks, but I never cared. The struggle to not only survive but win in a situation of overwhelming opposition. The animalistic rush of excitement brought on by that...It's something I lived for. Perhaps now we should seek the guidance of the Ancient Ones on what to do next."

"I'd say we're going to find out what we have to do pretty soon..", Kali said, giggling. Maybe just to confirm her words, a couple of moments later, the purple eyed Omega, the one Rho might now as the other sister of the Hegemon, the sister of Sigma who also was on Tau Volantis. Omega stopped in front of Rho, having the same strange black cane like thing in her right hand. "Rho, the High Ones are ordering you to take command of a part of our forces, and start to attack the territory of the human-alien nation known as the Confederacy, your former nation. You shall take those forces and start attacking their military bases, major civilian centers, research centers, and so on, anything that would create chaos among their forces, paving the way for Phase 2 and our main Invasion. Understood? "

"I can do that," Rho said evenly. "I know where to attack exactly. The Confederacy will never know what hit it."
Rho then moved towards a star chart on the wall, pulled up a map of Triangulum, and pointed to a star system. "We'll start with Karsopolis. We won't waste resources trying to truly capture the Confederate capital so early on, but an attack on them by us will shock Confederate citizens and leadership. We attack, do damage, then we move to another system. Then we go for one of the real targets. Malantogue. It's one of well over a hundred factory planets, and it's the headquarters of the Confederate military industrial complex, Munitions Multigalactic. It's also home to Marcus Millex, Head Of Confederate Logistics. Finances, supplies, all logistical concerns of the Confederacy, he handles. We besiege Malantogue. It will take a long time to break, but the goal is capturing Millex. Without him, the Confederacy will be crippled. There are some who can replace him of course, but it would take them some time to get them established, especially in such a time of chaos." Suddenly, Rho stopped and said, "Wait. We can forget capturing Millex. He's become Acruani. Still, besieging Malantogue will present a problem to the Confederacy."
"Finally, we attack Maarlox. This planet is one of several secret Confederate Research and Development facilities. It houses part of a clone army, and many other projects. We take Maarlox, the Confederacy loses its most advanced research facility, and perhaps we can kill some of their top scientists as well. For the killing blow, we will mount another raid on Karsopolis, and kidnap the Governor. We then use him as leverage to make the Confederacy surrender. I trust you approve of this plan Omega, Kali?" Rho then paused and added, "This makes me wonder why we ever allowed the Confederacy to get this strong. Why didn't we kill them before their infancy, back when they were Triangulum colonists?"

"That's a good question.", Omega answered."When we firstly invaded, back in the conflict the humans call the Great War, the Triangulum colonists were weak and low on supplies. By attacking and throwing the Human Colonial Alliance in the Long Night, we stopped the second colonization program that was supposed to help them, so the High Ones considered that they were going to die on their own. The probability of them being helped by native aliens was small, and that's why it was ignored, the High Ones preferring to focus on the Milky Way instead. Still, it wasn't a mistake. By allowing the Confederacy to exist, just like with the Drathians, it lead to the eventual collapse of the United Republics of Earth, and the weakening of the Federated Colonies, through the Intergalactic Wars. The Keltakens, Drathians, Confederates and Acruani have helped us a lot. They've damaged the Milky Way more that we could have ever imagined."
While Omega was explaining, Kali was listening like she knew what they were talking about. Maybe she really knew.. "Your plan is perfect, Rho. We knew that it wasn't a mistake to select you for this. You are going to take command of the operations. I, and the High Ones await the news of your victories. Go, because you have been reborn to destroy. Bring Triangulum in its original darkness"
