"It is a pleasure to meet you too, Herr...Terry.", Sieglinda answered, her usual politeness nearly getting the best of her. "I must however express my dissatisfaction at the status of the data that this Confederacy owns about the other galaxies. It seems foolish for me to get involved into two Intergalactic Wars without properly knowing what happened in those galaxies. And especially, attacking the only nation that was genuinely concerned about all of Earth's colonies does seem like counter-intuitive to me, but it is not my duty to make comments on intergalactic diplomacy. ", the blonde ship girl declared, calmly.
"As for the Hegemon, all I can tell you is the data that I have received through the Colonial Strategic Network from the Central High Command. As soon as I was activated, I made contact, although it does seem that the COK1 has lost the ability to communicate with their forces, and that there are merely sending information out. From what it seems like, the Bundeswehr has installed small chips into many of their soldiers around a year ago, chips that relate a lot of information back, but indispensable in a large military like ours, they seem to be taking the place of these devices.", Sieglinda started to explain, showing the two small devices on her necklace, "While also ensuring that our men can properly interact with all the military systems of a ship. It would seem that Oberleutnant Wendelin also has one, even if the Freikorps uses it a little differently from the Kriegsflotte. Nevertheless, the chip that the Hegemon had reported his death around 10 minutes ago. The cause of death seems to be a piercing wound caused by a metallic object that pierced through his chest, near the heart, rupturing the aorta and piercing one of his lungs. The Hegemon then died from a massive internal bleeding that eventually led to his lungs being filled with blood, hence, his death. I can not pronounce myself due to the lack of any other data, but this death surely does not seem natural."
The blue eyed ship model then sighed. "I am not sure what I will do. Central has sent one last message, which in the Colonial military signals, means that the stations has ended its broadcast permanently. Before that, the last messages it send were about the status of the Colonial forces. Contact with the Hegemon von Scheerling, the ship on which the Hegemon was, has been lost. The rest of the Colonial fleet in the sector seems to be under loyalist control, and several crew members of the von Scheerling seem to have escaped after the ship was seemingly set to self-destruct, which severely damaged it. Command in the sector around Terra Nova has been taken by Kapitänleutnant Retia Wedelkind. In the rest of the Colonies, the situation is similar, the rebels seem to have taken control over a large part of the Kriegsflotte, while other ships have remained under loyalist control. Currently though, there is no central command out there. Before closing its broadcast, the COK has also recommended us all to close our connections to the Network, as it may have been compromised, which I did, but this has also led to me losing all contact with any other Colonial ships of assets. In the light of that, this means that the only Colonial officer around here is Oberleutnant Wendelin, and as such, he becomes my superior officer. I am going to follow any of his orders, as soon as he decides which faction is the true successor of the Federal Government, whether that means fighting against this Axiom Church, or attacking this space station and your men.. Terry. "

"It doesn't sound natural at all," Terry said. "I'll assume regicide until further notice. Until then, it seems we're in limbo until the Oberstleutnant wakes up."
As a syringe of stimulants was driven into Gilbert's neck, the doctor suddenly said, "Oberstleutenant Wendelin will be awake soon. We can ask him what he thinks." Once the Lieutenant's eyes had opened, the doctor placed a cup of liquid near the patient's mouth, and tipped it downwards. When Gilbert swallowed, he would discover it was brandy. Terry's comm suddenly chimed. When he answered, an Intelligence agent said in an even tone, "Sir. The Assistant Director has arrived. She'll be boarding the station shortly."

"It certainly seems so.", Sieglinda answered calmly. Even if she looked human, and was pretty close to it, she wasn't. So, the fact that she might simply have to fight against these Confederates or that she might simply have to blow herself up, didn't mean much to her. It was all her duty after all. She was a Ship of the Line of the Colonial War Fleet, even if she had been decommissioned. Her duty and loyalty were to the Colonies about anything else.
The Oberleutnant soon woke up, and the doctor helped him drink something, which seemed to be brandy. The blonde officer coughed a little, not exactly that used to alcohol, but he drank it, closing his eyes a little again. He was clearly weakened, and tired. "What's.. what's happening?", the yellow eyed boy asked, weakly.

"Welcome back, Oberstleutnant," Bethany said warmly. She motioned to the ship model and added, "We were just discussing what would happen next with Sieglinda, the Siegrdrifa's ship model. Because network connexions could be compromised, they've been closed. That means you're the highest ranking Colonial officer Sieglinda can look to for instructions. So she needs to know what you want her to do next. And if you'd like to share what you know about the Confederacy with her, feel free to do so. I'm sure a Colonial perspective on our nation would be valuable."
Terry replied to the comm, "Have the Persecutor remain in the system, send the Assistant Director to my location." The Intelligence veteran hoped that Gilbert would side against the Axiom Church. Most doors to the station were still locked down, meaning that if a fight broke out in the hangar, the station's garrison wouldn't be able to intervene. Weapons were also locked, as well as internal defences. Everything had been deactivated to make seizing the station easier. So in a fight with Sieglinda and the ship she controlled, it was very possible that the Intelligence members and other Confederates would die. But Terry refused to let any of this show externally. Instead, he silently waited for the Oberstleutnant.

"Ah.. so the rumors about the Valkyrie Queen actually having a ship model were true.", the boy replied in a frail voice. "I'm not sure what to think about being her officer.. I'm just in the Freikorps, after all.. and even if I'm studying at Xalion's War Fleet Academy.. I'm still not considered a member of the Kriegsflotte.. I don't deserve the honor.." Sieglinda smiled. "If what these people here have been telling me is true, then you more that surely deserve such an honor. What you did was not easy. You would make the Colonies proud. And I started as a Freikorps vessel anyway, I don't see how that would be an issue."
The blonde officer remained quiet for a few moments, clearly embarrassed by Sieglinda's praising. Her position and history might not mean that much to the Confederates, but for a Colonial, she was a legend. And now, a living legend. So, Gilbert focused on answering the other thing that the ambassador had motioned, making some efforts to speak.
"The Confederacy.. I hate them. It might be well.... widespread.... but.. many Colonials lost members of their family in the Intergalactic Wars... me included. My grandfather was.. a Captain of the Kriegsflotte.. he died at Rast D. My father disappeared during the Second Intergalactic War with his ship. My mother.. died a few years after I was born. She couldn't get over my father's death, they said. And all of this.. all of this because of those Keltakens, and all those who helped them. I have no love for the Confederacy.. the Keltakens.. or the Acruani." The officer remained quiet for a few moments. "But unlike others, the Confederates seem to at least have tried to mend their mistakes.. and well, after meeting Confederates myself.. I don't see them be the monsters like how the propaganda has portrayed them. And compared to the Keltakens or the Acruani, they are better. Much better."
Gilbert then looked at Sieglinda. "But well.. I'm surely not going to start a war.. by myself... as long as they.. don't try to do anything bad to you.... I think that.. we can trust them. And.. we have to... avenge all of those... killed by those Axiom bastards... we should.. try to get in contact with.. loyalist forces.. that..if there are any."

"Well," Bethany said with a slight smile. "At least we're more popular than the Keltakens."
Before she could say anything else, sounds were heard. A hiss of air. A closing airlock door. And a metal ramp slamming into the hangar deck. A woman in a dark grey dress walked down, followed by six agents.
Both Terry and Carter stood formally and said, "Welcome aboard, Director."
"Relax, agents," she said evenly. "I'm not some sort of overlord. Just your temporary boss until Isabel is back in her right mind." Alice then added, "And Intelligence Director isn't the only leadership position being infused with new blood. Technically, this is classified. But most of you are trustworthy. And as for the foreign delegation, in a few hours, top secret wont mean anything. In the coming hour, Carter, your father will be handing control of the Confederacy to your sister, Kendra."
"He's handing it to Kendra?" Carter said in a surprised tone. "Why? Leadership in the Confederacy typically lasts until the ruler's death. And is there any reason he chose Kendra instead of me, my mother, or Katelyn?"
"Katelyn's too young, obviously. As for you and Isabel, he said you've both spent your whole careers as capable spies. A job in the spotlight like Confederate leadership would kill you, he said."
Carter thought about the answer, then said, "He's right as usual. So what's going to happen? Is there going to be a ceremony? A quiet change? What?"
"Terry should have informed you about a news conference. That's what it's about."
Suddenly, Terry spoke up as he looked towards Gilbert. "Yes. I'm glad that we agree on the Axiom Church as an enemy. We'll be working with the Colonies against them as soon as we have instructions from above. Whatever rises from the ashes of the Colonies, they have the full support of the Confederacy."

The blonde boy remained quiet, although he clearly did hear what the Confederates had talked about. Pretty weird, but it wasn't like he could say anything. He had no idea who this Kendra was after all, and all he could do was to speculate. But even that required an energy that he did not have right now. Sieglinda on the other hand was quite quick at registering what they had spoken, and at storing the data. She was a Colonial vessel of war, after all.
"Well.. it would be difficult.. not to think about them as an enemy.. after.. after what those bastards have done.", Gilbert replied in the same low voice, but with a slight hint of anger and hate. "But.. I just hope.. that the loyalist forces can rally..it's bad.. for the capital itself.. for Xalion itself to fall.. the last time.. that a capital of the Colonies fell.. Terra Nova.. the Federation nearly disappeared." Sieglinda seemed to once again flinch at the mere hearing of the name of the former Colonial capital. "And now.. the situation was bad even before, with all the instability....we need the Hegemon, and we need a strong political coalition to take over. But especially, the Hegemon.. he's the only one who can muster the entirety of the Bundeswehr to fight against these rebels."

"I hate to share this news with you, Oberstleutnant," Bethany said in a sympathetic tone. "But the Hegemon is...dead. Sieglinda informed us a short while before you woke. It occurred about twenty-five minutes ago. A metallic object pierced his chest, causing internal bleeding. So we currently suspect regicide."
The Ambassador left out the specific details about the Hegemon's death, not wanting to make the news any more painful than it already was. Meanwhile, Carter began thinking about what a reign of Kendra would be like. As he considered it, the agent began to understand clearly why his father had chosen her. Kendra was stubborn, commanding, intelligent, and capable. And unlike the old Governor Sharp, when she was angry, Carter knew that his sister descended upon enemies with the spirit of Satan. Lastly, she was young and fiery. She would be the perfect choice for a potential long war with the Axiom Church.

The blonde officer remained quiet... clearly more than shocked by hearing the news. and clearly really affected by them, despite his clear efforts to remain calm. Anyone would be shocked to hear that the ruler of their military and the person they respected and admired the most had died.. but for the boy, it was even worse than that, as he had known the Hegemon personally. Back then, when millions of young and old people had been forcefully conscripted in the Freikorps after the end of the Second Intergalactic War, Gilbert had ended up being conscripted in the same unit as the one who would later become the Hegemon of the Colonies. Because as young as he looked, the young officer was a veteran of the Interim Wars, like many other unfortunate people of his age. That's why.. the news of the Hegemon's death.. hit him a little harder than how it would have hit the others.
"Oh... I... I see.", the Colonial answered in a low and weak voice."Then.. I... I don't know. This is... a Scenario One type of situation. Each.. commander is supposed to take whatever decision it considers to be the best for the Colonies that we have sword to protect. But..with... both the Hegemon.. and... Central gone.. and with rebels.. infiltrated in the Bundeswehr itself... I.. I don't know... everything might be lost..." The yellow eyed boy then made a short pause. "But.. we have to leave.. the Siegrdiffa has to leave.. once they.. realize that.. the ambassadors fled Xalion.. the Knights will look for the ship.. and they'll come for us.. this.. station will be in danger.... we have to leave.. and to draw them somewhere else.. " Saying that with determination, the Oberleutnant tried to stand back up.
