Greetings, citizens of the Federated Colonies, allies of freedom from all across this corner of the universe. We are interrupting this program to bring you urgent news. Our sources are indicating that something is happening in the system of Danzig. From our sources, it would seem that the workers in the military factories of the system have started a general strike. The incredible efforts of the Colonial war industry in the last years are well known, but despite all the praise it gave to the workers, the Federal Government has announced recently that it is unable to raise the salaries or ameliorate the conditions of the workers, some of whom have been working unpaid ever since the start of the war. The Federal Government is naming the war effort as the reason for why enough money can't be raised, and has asked the workers to continue their jobs until the war will be won. But even with the recent victories, the end of the war seems so far away, that it is probably demoralizing a large part of the workers.
Because of that, there is no wonder that the workers in the Danzig system have went on strike. They are asking to negotiate with Federal representatives, and it is expected that the Federal Government will accept it, as it is one of the rights of the workers to go on strike and demand better conditions. It is unknown though, if the Federal Government can afford something like this.
This situation comes into a bad moment for the current Federal Government, and especially for the Chancellery, which has been pressed from all parts lately. It is still unknown how this will change the situation in the Parliament, but if this strike is followed by other strikes, it could raise support for the reforms called by the opposition coalition.
We will continue bringing you news as soon as we receive them. God bless the Federated Colonies.
